The TROUT MAFIA is run by four fictional dynasties of trout — each ruling a different stretch of water, each answering to the Don of the Pond. This is brand storytelling. These are not real organizations or membership groups.
Flashy. Powerful. Runs the big water.
The showmen of the syndicate. The Rainbow Family doesn't sneak — they arrive. Broad shoulders, iridescent flanks, and a reputation that precedes them across every open lake. When the big water needs running, you call the Rainbows.
Old-school. Quiet. Controls the deep pools.
The elders. The Brown Family holds the deep pools and the deeper secrets. They don't chase the surface and they don't chase attention. What they know about the river bottom would fill a ledger — and that ledger is locked.
Mountain-stream specialists. Small territory, big attitude.
Territorial to a fault. The Brook Family claims the high country — the cold, fast, narrow water nobody else can work. Small in stature, surgical in method. Cross a Brook on his home water and you'll hear about it once. Only once.
Independent operators. No negotiations.
The lone wolves of the drainage. The Cutthroat Family takes no orders, holds no territory, and signs no treaties. They show up where the water is clean and the pressure is low, take what they came for, and disappear back into the current.
